The Pimenteira Formation is a Devonian unit of the Panaíba Basin and presents marine fossiliferous sediments that recorded important data about geobiological processes that occurred in the region. Despite its potentialities, there are few published studies about the Pimenteira Formation and the destruction of its deposits in situ. This study revisited the fossiliferous material of the Pimenteira Formation, safeguarding its paleontological collections and demonstrating the need for proper guidelines to protect fossiliferous outcrops. A total of 1,871 specimens, distributed between 88 taxa, in 1,639 registrations were found. The high number of fossils and diversity support the importance of the Pimenteira Formation for geo-palaeontogical studies in the region.
