The Boletim do Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi is one of the oldest scientific journals in Brazil. Created by Emilio Goeldi under the original name of Boletim do Museu Paraense de História Natural e Ethnographia, its first issue dates from 1894. Nowadays it is published three times a year in two editions: Natural Sciences (Ciências Naturais) and Human Sciences (Ciências Humanas).
The Boletim do Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi. Ciências Naturais (ISSN 2317-6237) has as main mission to publish original works in the areas of biology (zoology, botany, biogeography, ecology, taxonomy, anatomy, biodiversity, vegetation, nature conservation) and geology. 
This is an open access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. There are also no fees for manuscript submission or publication.

The journal adopts LOCKSS and CLOCKSS for Archiving.
